Memories of the Summer Fair

A huge thanks to Jo Gemmell and Jessica Evershed plus the fantastic group of parents and staff who organised and ran the summer fair this year. We raised lots of money for the school, especially on our raffle and we shall be letting you know shortly exactly how much we raised and how the money is to be spent.
In the meantime, enjoy the photos (there are more on the way)!

‘Dads Band’ for the Summer Fair

We are looking for a ‘Dad’s Band’ to play some Rock/Pop covers at the School Summer Fair on Friday 29th June. There is limited rehearsal time so we are looking for any Dad’s currently playing regularly, preferably in a band, as soon as possible please. We have drums and accordian/trumpet, looking for bass, lead guitar, keys, sax and vocals. Please contact the school office if you can help.

Thank you.

The Spring Disco – E is for Enthusiasm!

Thank you to all the children and parents who came to the school disco and made it such a fun event. We have raised lots of money for our school chickens ( totals raised to come!) . The ‘spring’ chickens are going to benefit from a longer run and we are hoping to buy them some new friends – if you have any suggestions as to which breed of chicken we should buy, please do comment!

And now….our performers! A dazzling array of talent ( Anton’s mum’s wonderful dancing and our year 6 dancers) and also ‘enthusiasm’ ( our dedicated teachers) . Thank you to all of you for putting on such an entertaining show.

We have some ideas for you to start thinking about – if you know of any any other events, do comment or drop the information in at the school office.

The Big Brew – A Fairtrade Coffee and Tea Morning – Friday 9th March 2012

Thank you to all the parents who came along on Friday and supported our Enterprise Club (and Traidcraft) at our special Fairtrade Coffee morning.

The Enterprise Club is run by Year 5 and 6 pupils under the watchful eye of Ms McHale and their aim is to run profitable business ventures throughout  the year. They have been responsible for managing the Fruit and Veg bags from Abel and Cole and also for leading our Fairtrade Fortnight. These pupils made and sold a selection of cakes, sweets and treats (where possible with Fairtrade ingredients) alongside tea, coffee and other gifts from Traidcraft.  We think they did a great job!

If you have any other ideas for small business opportunities or charities that our Enterprise club  can support, please do speak to either Ms McHale (Pickwick Class) or Ms Roberts ( Chuzzlewit Class)

Charles Dickens and The Borough – Can You Beat Our Quiz Champions?

Last Thursday, we held our school quiz night for parents and staff.  Lots of very knowledgeable parents meant that our staff teams were beaten yet again!

For those of you who couldn’t join us , try your hand at the Charles Dickens round – how well do you know Mr Dickens and his connections to The Borough? Click here for questions and answers ( no cheating!) .

Congratulations to the winning team ‘What Larks Pip?’ . They won a rather splendid trophy and hopefully will return again next year to retain their title.

Many thanks to all those who organised this event – Ms Gemmell and The Parents and Community Team! A special thanks to Mr Nicol, a wonderful nursery parent, for writing and hosting the quiz with Mr Mackinnon!
