Westminster Garden Party!

This week some eco councilors and gardeners went to the Westminster college garden to celebrate ten years of Food School Matters. This was a wonderful trip filled with activities to encourage healthy living and tips for food growing.

The children had the chance to plant a food hanging basket, make smoothies powered by bikes and create a healthy snack using chia seeds that are high in omega oils. We also had a giant carrot crunching moment when children from over twenty schools all ate a raw carrot at the same time.

The organisers were very impressed with the produce we had picked in the morning from our school garden, including: nasturtiums, calendula, lettuce, cherries, strawberries, broad beans and basil. We had a wonderful picnic where we shared our fresh salads. Luca even made some amazing lettuce wraps! The tastiest salad was a Moroccan salad with orange.

Rooftop Playground Grand Opening!

This week your children finally gained access to the rooftop play space. Joseph (our eldest child) and Esme (our youngest child) proudly opened the playground together and it has been fully enjoyed since. The bouncy rubber surface has been especially welcome as it is apparently excellent for handstands and cartwheels.
