Wick Court Farm – All the pigs, all the apples and all the fun!

We have arrived at Wick Court Farm on Friday afternoon. There is so much space for running and playing hide and seek! As you can see everyone has changed quickly into their farm clothes. The air is ridiculously fresh!

Today we have got stuck into looking after all the animals. Some natural farmers already emerging. We have been feeding pigs and horses and chickens. We have learnt how to make apple juice and collected lots of apples ( we might also have eaten a few). We have been preparing the soft fruit beds for the winter. We have been up since the crack of dawn and it has been non-stop action ever since. We shall definitely sleep soundly tonight!

Meeting the Duke of Kent – School Food Matters!

This week we set up a stall in Southwark cathedral to introduce the Duke of Kent to the wonderful food growing that goes on in our school. He was very impressed to learn all the products we brought were grown in our school garden. He especially liked the pumpkin that had been planted from seed in Mr Paul’s class and then looked after by our gardeners in the year one raised bed. He also bought some eggs from Dickens’ chickens.

Although the children were noticeably nervous they all spoke wonderfully about our garden and the different fruits and vegetables that we have grown. After the excitement of meeting the Duke we were all treated to tea, cake and cucumber sandwiches of course.

Peggotty Class Assembly

Today the school had the pleasure of enjoying the first class assembly of the year. Peggotty class really delivered with a mixture of excitement, enthusiasm and confidence. Parents and children were treated to a performance that involved Music, French, Humanities, P.E. and even Maths! Well done to everyone involved!

International Sharing Afternoon

It was wonderful to see so many of you yesterday at our international food celebration. The PTA members and our governors did a superb job of inspiring you all to make and bake. As a result the food on sale was truly delicious.

Thank you if you cooked, donned blue gloves to serve, helped set up and importantly came along to buy and hang out. We are hoping to have raised in the region of £400 for our computer suite and we shall exact amounts by next week.
