Day Two in Hardelot

So, day two has drawn to an end and we thought you’d like to know what we have been up to!

After a delicious continental breakfast, including the French delicacies of hot chocolate (in a bowl!) and Nutella croissants, we set off to Boulogne sur Mer to explore the market and practise our French. An eclectic array of souvenirs were purchased ranging from laser pens to roast chickens. Then we set off on the coach, escorted, once more, by our steadfast driver, Dave, to the wheat farm.

Our first task on arrival at the farm was to make and kneed our dough. The children were issued a ‘carte blanche’, giving them freedom to make a loaf in any shape they liked. Again, we were treated to quite an array of designs including snails,
Swords and random fruits. Then we wove some wheat and ate a lovey lunch of savoury crepes. Once the bread had been baked we took our loaves and headed for the beach where some played football on the shore, others practised their gymnastics in the dunes and a small regiment of brave soldiers built a life size World War One trench in the sand.

We returned to our base to explore the woods and enjoy a final 3 course meal, finished off with a healthy dose of creme brûlée.

It is now, well and truly, time for bed.

À bientôt!
