Charles Dickens Primary School joins the Charter Schools Educational Trust

We are delighted to let you know that today, we have taken the final step in becoming an Academy and joining The Charter Schools Educational Trust.

Today marks the beginning of a new chapter for our school. We are happy to be joining a wider family of schools serving local communities across our part of London, so that we can work together in wider teams on our curriculum, performing arts provision, mental health services, SEND provision, and much more.

It has been wonderful to speak with so many of you during the consultation meetings, and to have your feedback via our survey and also the emails you have written, telling us about your hopes and your questions.  Thank you so much for participating in this process, which has happened at a slightly more relaxed pace than originally planned due to the challenges presented by the current period. We have learned so much about what is unique and precious to you about Charles Dickens School.

We are pleased to now be able to prepare for the next academic year as part of a wider family.

Mrs Buchanan has been CEO of The Charter Schools Educational Trust since April, and going forward, she will continue to combine this role part-time with her work at Charles Dickens. Mr Michael Eggleton will become Head of School, Ms Jemima Rhys Evans will become Head of Primary Curriculum and Standards for the Trust while continuing to be part of the CDPS leadership team. The governing body has huge confidence in this brilliant team, and we know we are in safe hands.

Thank you all for your continuing support and please do get in touch with any questions you have at any time. We are looking forward to taking this next step as a community together.

With best wishes

Cassie Buchanan, Rebecca Kaloo and Claire Maugham
