Our maths today focuses on the language we need to describe movements in a space.

As well as eating healthy food it’s important to be active. You could have a sports day at home with your family. How will you move your body? Can you go over, under, along and through obstacles?

We learnt in our story this week that Oliver only likes potatoes! But he tries new vegetables and finds they are actually very delicious. Have a go at this terrific taste game at home as a way of trying new foods. Encourage lots of descriptive language as you play this yummy game!

Today Ms Balderson is using a story to help children practice positional language. Positional language words describe where something or someone is. These words include in, on, under, above and behind. Click here to watch the video and then have a go at encouraging your child to use these words with their toys.
Can you take your favourite toy on a journey around the house? You could go up, over and through different places and objects.

Song of the week
Our song of the week is all about the journey of vegetables in our garden from seed to the table and then straight into our mouths.

Remember you can use what’s in the bag to introduce all sorts of words. This is one of the children’s favourite games. It is a great game to encourage language development. Some children will name what is in the bag, some will want to talk about the object and most of all children will love to handle what is in the bag.
Art & Music
Once you have made your vegetable dye as demonstrated in our science section, you can use it to paint with. Use as it is or add some cornflour to thicken it. Here is Ms Beveridge showing how it’s done.
