Daily Message

We hope you had a lovely weekend and wish to thank everybody for the lovely emails with pictures, videos and updates of your learning at home. Please keep these coming in.

Our story this week is called Lost and Found which is about a long journey across the ocean. In maths you will have the chance to join Ms Balderson on another of her daily walks to discover long, tall and different shaped things.

I know many of you have been growing plants at home so here is a little update on my vegetable plants.

Lost and Found is a story about a penguin’s journey to the South pole and a journey back to find a friend. It is as much a story about a friendship as it is about a long journey across the sea.

Today your task will be to measure yourself against objects in your home or in the nursery. Here Mrs Jamois explains the difference between length and height.

Have fun searching.

See if you can find objects the same height as you.

Which objects are taller than you?

You could even make a chart to show which things are shorter taller or the same size.

It is time to go over our story and retell it with the toys and objects we can find in our homes or if you are at nursery you will be using what you can find there.

You have a go now at retelling the story in your own words using what you have made or found.

Collect some natural ingedients.

How much will you need of each?

Once you have made your potions arrange these in different containers.

Can you put them in height order starting from the shortest and ending with the tallest?

How can you put them in size order?

Some of the short containers are wider and hold more liquid.

How can you check this?

Most of all have lots of fun and send in pictures or videos of the potions you have been making.

Today Ms Livett will be teaching us about halving.

Now it is your turn to share objects out between two people or toys to divide a large quantity into two halves. For this task your objects all need to be the same size so you can make two equal halves.

You could pretend your pile of 12 bricks or blocks is a cake or a pizza that needs cutting into two halves.
