Let’s have a super start to a super week.

Throughout this week we are reading the story Supertato by Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet.

In this story Supertato is on the move to keep all the veggies fit so remember Monday is our gymnastics day!

Keep practising your moves as you may need them this week when acting out your own super hero stories.

This week is all about you finding your inner superheros. Have fun

Here is a quick update on Mrs Harris’s tiny garden.

Melonbot maths.

Becoming robots and giving directions.

Today it is your turn to become a robot or you could turn someone at home into a robot.

Robots need to be given directions by a person.

Your challenge is to get your robot from A to B. Try from the living room to the bedroom.

Here Mrs Harris is Mummy melonbot rescuing her child, melonbot.

You will have to use language such as:

  • Take two steps forward,
  • backwards,
  • to the side,
  • half a turn,
  • turn left,
  • a quater turn,
  • turn right,
  • in front,
  • reach,
  • up,
  • down,
  • behind,
  • turn slightly,
  • move forward six tiny steps.

Now it’s your turn to make a super vegetable.

Design your own chararcter . You can use a real vegetable or make a vegetebale out of junk or even draw or paint your super vegetable.

You will be using these character this week to make up some great adventures.

If you have a printer here are some features you could cut out and add to your superhero, other wise you could copy them or draw your own designs on paper!

Supertato needs to get fit so we need to set up a sport event for supertato and the other fruit and vegetables.

Meet Broclina, She is going to take on Supertato in a race.

Listen carefully to Miss Gordon as she commentates on the epic race of Broclina versus Supertato.

In her commentry Miss Gordon uses words such as over, under, behind, in front.

Now its your turn to have a go.

  • Can you make up an obstacle course for the super Veg?
  • Let’s hear your commentary on the race.
  • Describe what the veg have to do using positional spatial and directional language and commentate on your race remember to describe what the characters have to do.

Today we will all become actors. Your challenge is to become supertato.

Here is Miss Gordon as you have never seen her before!

Your challenge:

  • First you will need to make a costume.
  • Now you have to become fit and strong enough to become a superhero.
  • So you will need to make a quick fitness programme.
  • Make a large poster of all the exercises your superhero will need to complete.
  • To stay fit you will have to also think about what you need to eat to stay fit and well.
  • Make a menu of the food supertato could eat today.
  • Turn your family into superheros and go on a adventure together.

Making a junk model robot to compete in your own race.

You will need lots of different shaped boxes and a big imagination.

Here Mrs Ahad demonstrates how she has made her robot using lots of different shapes.

Now it’s your turn.

Can you make your robot?

We really need to see your robot so hurry and send then in!

Will you put the cube on the top off the oblong for the robot’s head?

Can the controls go on the back or the front of the robot’s body?

We hope you are excited today. We are going to try a new job. This could be the start of a new career.

Your task today is to become an author and narrator. We want you to make up your own small world story based on your super vegetable or super fruit.

In this video here Mrs Ahad is going to show you her story and then it’s your turn to have a go.

You may wish to tell your story to your adult and they can write it for you so you can then act it out together using your toys.

Potato challenge.

We are exploring potatoes and their super power this week.

Here is a clip of Mrs Harris in the garden at school with Mrs Lambert. They explored the eco garden and found some potatoes!

We are going to do an experiment with a potato and find out the super power of the potato’s roots.
You will need a potato and an old box.
