First of all, thank you again for sending in all your amazing work. It has really made our week to receive all the fantastic videos and pictures. Please keep it up. You are doing an amazing job.

Last week was a beautiful week full of sunshine and on Monday last week, I asked you to make a label for our weather chart.

This week is all about the weather. Check out our science and creative challenges – we have added some really fun ideas for you to try.

Oh and remember today is the day we usually have gymnastics. So don’t forget to practise.

Here is Mrs Harris to remind you of how to do some of the exercises!

Morning. Have a listen to Maddie’s songs and listen to her sing about evaporation.

Once you have listened to the song see what you remember.

When you have listened to Maddie’s song listen to this.

It is a great song to help you learn all about the water cycle.

Today’s challenge: Can you make a poster to describe evaporation or even the water cycle?

Rain3

Remember to label your poster if you can.

Good morning and welcome to Tuesday’s newsletter.

Now, we usually have music with Mr Nathan today and today you can scroll down to the creative section of the newsletter to find him there.

Today we have maths with Mrs Harris and English with Miss Gordon.

We are really looking forward to seeing all your videos of silly soup.

A little idea from Mrs Harris. How about opening your own tuck shop to stop you snacking throughout the day.
Mrs Harris has made a little video.

Have fun.

Maths with Mrs Harris.

The number 10

How many objects are in Mr Harris’ case?

Remember to use your fingers to help you show the answers.
Or maybe you could write down the answers on some paper.

You can play these games together at home.

Maybe hide numbers around the house.

This is another great game to play.

Can you guess the mising number?

Is the number before of ater…?

The number I have hidden is larger than the last number.

Can you show me the answer using your fingers?

Enjoy

Silly soup with Miss Gordon

In this video, Miss Gordon demonstrates a silly soup. This is a game we love to play in Trotwood.

Collect together items in the house that rhyme. (mat, hat, cat) place the objects on the floor.

Use a bowl and spoon as props to act out the song.
Invite the children in turn, to choose an object to put into the soup and place it in the bowl.

After each turn, stir the soup and sing the following song to recite the growing list of things that end up in the soup.

Sing the first part of the song to the tune of ‘Pop Goes the Weasel’:

I’m making lots of silly soup
I’m making soup that’s silly
I’m going to cook it in the fridge
To make it nice and chilly
In goes… a fox… a box… some socks…

We have attached a rhyming game here.

Look at each line. Can you see all the rhyming words? Now, see if you can spot the odd one out?

Why not have a go at making your own weather chart. You could record this week’s weather.

Make some symbols for different weather. Add some written labels e.g. Sunny, rainy etc…

You will then need some labels for the days of the week.

2020 03 31 13.19.21

This is a great way to practice the days of the week.

Have a look at Mrs Harris attempt.

Have fun!

Maths

Click here for maths with Miss Gordon.

It’s all about counting and amounts, not forgetting the numerals also.

Can you add one more?

Is the amount becoming larger or smaller?

What number comes next?

Have fun. Remember to check the amount. You can show the answers on your fingers.

Small world with Mrs Balderson.

2020 03 31 09.38.51

Mrs Balderson is missing playing with you all. She has had fun at home to remind you how to have some family fun with small world play.

Have a go yourself. We are really excited to see what ideas and stories you come up with.

One of the beneficial aspects of small world play is its ability to help children emotionally.
Small world play allows children to become aware of other’s emotions, but it can also help children get to grips with how they are feeling themselves. Any worries or concerns can often be bought up through the safety of the character a child has created.

Have loads of fun.

Phonics fun with Sally.

Mrs Lambert is helping Sally to pack to go on holiday. I wonder what she will be packing to take on holiday.

What did she take with her?

Can you make a list of all the things that Sally packed in her bag?

How many items did she take on holiday?

Can you make up a story about where Sally went on holiday?

Mrs Lambert has used some recycled lids to make some phonic counters. Why not make some of your own to help you practise your phonics?

Once you have played I spy, use the items your have collected to make a pretend shop with someone at home.

Here is another I spy game .
