Year 4 Home Learning

This Week's Message

Hello parents and carers! As you know, we are now using Atom Prime for home learning in Years 3 to 6. All you need to do is make sure your child can log in at https://atomlearning.co.uk/prime and complete the English and maths tasks set. If your child has not completed their baseline assessment they can have a go at that too.

The film above explains how to do all these things if you aren’t sure.

Welcome to ‘Socks: The Art of Care and Repair’!

In this video, Dr Mulvenna explores a fascinating exhibition by London-based textile artist Celia Pym, now on display at NOW Gallery, North Greenwich, till 9th March, 2025. Celia has been mending clothes for years, turning worn-out garments into beautiful, meaningful artworks. This exhibition is all about socks, their stories, and how small acts of repair can make a big difference to our world.

At the heart of the show are 488 mended socks, stitched by the students, teachers, and families of Surrey Square Primary School. These once-forgotten socks have been transformed with colourful repairs, showing how care and creativity can bring new life to old things.

Mending isn’t just about fixing holes—it’s about sustainability, storytelling, and celebrating the things we already have. So grab some thread and get inspired! Let’s discover how repairing something as simple as a sock can help protect our planet.
