Michael Eggleton joined Charles Dickens Primary School and Nursery in 2010, following teaching roles in Surrey. He has been part of the school’s leadership team since 2014 and has previously held the roles of Deputy Headteacher and Head of School, before becoming Headteacher.
Michael is passionate about preparing children for the next stage of their education through a strong, knowledge-rich curriculum. He believes deeply in developing a lifelong love of the arts and in nurturing children’s emotional intelligence so they leave school as confident, curious and resilient learners.
Educated in Surrey, Michael went on to achieve a BA (Hons) degree from the University of Greenwich, followed by postgraduate qualifications from Yale University (USA) and University College London, including the NPQH and NPQEL.
Alongside his role at CDPS, Michael is an Ofsted inspector and has worked with the Department for Education on expert advisory boards focused on pupil mental health, flexible working and staff well-being. He is proud to have led DfE Behaviour Hubs and DfE Flexible Working Schools, and currently advises the DfE on Behaviour and Attendance.
Outside of school, Michael enjoys all things fitness and regularly competes in triathlons. He is married to his wife Jenna, and they have two children, Arthur and Florence.
