Year Five and Six Pilgrims

On Friday, pupils in Years Five and Six visited Southwark Cathedral as part of their topic on pilgrimage. The children have been learning and writing explanations about medieval pilgrimages, prior to reading and re-imagining the Canterbury Tales. The children greatly enjoyed dressing up as pilgrims and making a mini pilgrimage around the great Cathedral. The pupils donned hats and cloaks and were given scrips – leather bags containing details of the character from the Canterbury Tales that they had been assigned. The trip was an excellent way to bring the children’s learning to life and the Educators at the Cathedral were highly impressed with the children’s subject knowledge!
