A Regal Birthday Lunch

Today we have been celebrating the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II!

Our day of royal celebrations began with children arriving at school dressed from head to toe in the colours of the Union Jack – red, white and blue! We also have had a few Queen Elizabeths visiting today. Did you spot any of them?

In reception, children made beautiful birthday cards – I’d love to receive one on my birthday.

Later in the morning, Mr Huxley lead a fascinating assembly about all of the countries that Queen Elizabeth II rules! I had no idea there were so many… how many can you remember?

Perhaps the main event happened at lunch time. Our lunch hall was transformed into a royal street party where a special menu of afternoon tea was served which included a range of sandwiches followed by scones with clotted cream and jam – it was DELICIOUS!

Happy Birthday, Queen Elizabeth II, from everyone at Charles Dickens Primary School!
