A Trip to Butser Ancient Farm!

On Tuesday, Year 3 set off bright and early for a day of living like Stone Age children at Butser Ancient Farm! We were amazed by the collection of roundhouses and animals that we saw when we arrived. First, we learnt all about the Stone Age while sitting around a smoky fire in our own special roundhouse.

We then embarked on a range of exciting, hand-on activities. We made pottery, did archaeology, built a fence and did ‘clunching’ (making clay bricks). We learnt that life in the Stone Age would have been hard work and very grubby…

The children had a fantastic time and listened really well to our guides. They are now busy writing instructions for how to do some of these activities, since they are the experts!
