Important letter sent out today with newsletter regarding Charles Dickens School expanding!

Dear Parents,

As many of you know, Charles Dickens Primary School is a popular school, and have in recent years been unable to give places to all the children whose parents would like them to come to school here.

More generally there is a shortage of reception places in Southwark in 2012, and Southwark has asked to take an extra 15 pupils for the academic year 2012-13, increasing our reception intake from 45 to 60 pupils. The governing body – after a lot of discussion with Mrs de Quincey and the senior staff of the school – have agreed to this expansion, which will enable us to offer an excellent primary education to more local children.

We think it is a very exciting opportunity, but you will probably have some questions. So, what does all this mean?

  1. It is really great to hear that more of the children in our community will benefit from the wonderful experience (teaching and warm, happy environment) of being a primary school child at Charles Dickens. A very worthwhile challenge. I wish you the best of luck!

    1. Thank you. We are really excited about being able to offer more places to local children. Let’s hope that all the disappointed parents, who maybe felt they were unlikely to get a reception place, now apply before the reception application deadline.
