Blue Peter Gardener visits Charles Dickens Primary School

Today gardening club had the opportunity to meet former Blue Peter gardener Chris Colins. He spent an hour with us teaching the children how to plant out the snap dragons we had planted from seed in the greenhouse and explaining the importance of cutting off dead leaves and branches from our fruit trees. After lots of hard work the children asked all manor of interesting questions about Chris’s life as gardener, his favourite plants and also found out about carnivorous plants and plants that smell of rotting flesh. He was very impressed with our garden and I was very impressed with how well everyone listened and worked in gardening club today.
