Charles Dickens Primary are ‘inspired’ by the Paralympics!

London 2012 may now be over but some pupils at Charles Dickens Primary will remember it forever.  5 year 6 pupils were lucky enough to see the athletics on Friday with Mrs Worley. It is wonderful to hear children describing the strength and talent of our paralympians with an admiration and awe, often reserved in the past for football or running stars! We hope this is the legacy London 2012 builds upon!

‘We went to the Paralympics today.  The first thing we heard when we were coming towards the stadium was screaming and shouting. It was very loud and exciting.  We were going to watch the athletics which included Javelin, 200m wheelchair race, 100m sprint and long jump.  The long jump had to be done in silence as all the competitors were blind.  They needed to hear their guides clapping and shouting so they could follow the sound.  The highlight of our day was when we were going home we met a Silver Medalist paralympian and we had our picture taken with him.  Wow!!’
