Tiny Tim Virtual School!
Monday 23rd March
Maths
This week we are looking at Number bonds: knowing which pairs make a given number.
A simple way to discover this is a game using toys. Put 5 toys in a box. 5 go in and two come out. How many are left?
Vocabulary to focus on- Hidden and left
English
In Tiny Tim we have been learning about water. Today’s book is The Wide-Mouthed Frog. A wonderful story with lots of fun characters!
How many of the animals can you recognise?
What do they like to eat?

Here is a game to try so you can play around with amounts whilst having fun.
Can you see how many there are without counting?
Do you remember how many there were altogether before they were hidden?
Have fun- anything can be counted
Try to remember how many you have altogether without having to count each time.
English
Yesterday we looked at the story of The Big Wide-Mouthed Frog.
Here is a link to the story read by Ms Beveridge.
Can you make up a story about a frog? You could draw a picture of your frog and get your grown up to write your story.
Please share with us at tt.charlesdickens@gmail.com and maybe I could be reading your story soon!

Following from yesterday, have a go at making a shopping list showing that you need five of each object. Here you can see Mrs Jamois making a shopping list to remind her husband to buy five lemons, five oranges and five apples when he next goes shopping.
How about making your own fruit and veg shop indoors?
English
A feely bag game is a great way to encourage children’s language. Gather some objects from your home and place in a bag. Try to encourage your child to use descriptive words to explain what they can feel.

Today you can continue to learn all about the number five with Mrs Balderson. Have a go at making your own collections of five objects. Perhaps you could make up your own number rhymes like Mrs Balderson has.
Please send in pictures of your collections. Can you draw how many you have of each object?
English
Today we are learning the story of Tiddalick the Frog. It’s an Aboriginal Dreamtime story about a very greedy frog! Listen carefully to the story and songs by clicking here.
What would you do to make Tiddalick the Frog laugh? Can you do your silliest dance and get your grown up to film you? Look forward to seeing your groovy moves!!

Friday 27th March
Maths
Inspired by your wonderful frog song singing and beautiful frog pictures, today we will be singing 5 little speckled frogs together.
Can you make your own frogs and sing the song to your toys. You could be the teacher and teach them all about the number five.
How many are in the pond and how many are left on the log each time?
Altogether there should always be five, is this so?
If you would like to have a go at making your own frogs see how easy it can be using an old egg box.
English
Today’s story is Oi Frog.
Can you hear the rhyming words? Can you think of any words that rhyme?
Following on from yesterday’s story can you learn the song of the kookaburra with Mrs Jamois?

Song of the week
Our song of the week is 5 Little Speckled Frogs.
Art & Music
Junk modelling is a great way to encourage children’s imagination. A few boxes and some tape can become a castle, a boat or even a spaceship. Let’s see where our imagination takes us!
Please share photos of your creations on the contact email. We would love to see what you come up with!
Understanding the world
Here is a science experiment you can try at home. Why not discover floating and sinking while you have a bath!
Active
Staying active is fun! This week we have an underwater-themed yoga session.
French
Have a click on this link to a lovely French song to learn at home.
Lyrics:
L’araignée Gypse
Monte à la gouttière
Tiens voilà la pluie!
Gypsie tombe par terre
Mais le soleil a chassé la pluie
